Installing .NET Framework v3.5

Hi all,

Quick question, if I install version 3.5 of the .NET framework, would you expect it to affect exisiting sites I'm hosting on my 1and1 dedicated server?
I know the framework is backwards compatible so that's not the issue, I don't know what would happen with Plesk etc if I install v3.5, and cannot risk my sites going down.

Is it safe to do, as my latest site requires some of the features of 3.5.
