Well, I'm sure many of you are receiving the same e-mail I just got that 7.5.4 is now avaialable...

All I have to say is CUDOS to SW-Soft for finally getting this implamented! :)

Now you can install Site Applications in the Document Root of your domain

Could NEVER understand why you weren't able to do that before! :)

We're installing now to a test server on FC2 with 7.5.3 and all updates. We'll see how it goes.

Upgrade seemed to go smoothly for us as well.

Usually it doesn't go that well at first :) I guess SW-Soft took there time with this one getting it right :)

I've upgraded with success. Although when I trie to upgrade to SpamAssassin 3 I'm having some problems but I think thats unrelated to plesk.

Although my system is still up and running thank God, my update to Plesk 7.5.4 has failed on what appears to be an error with the Christmas skin component. Here is the last part of the log file my server emailed to me:

Okay, I've removed the Plesk Christmas skin and will try the upgrade again tonight. Stay tuned!

eWebtricity
08-27-2005, 02:05 PM
I've heard numerous complaints about the xmas skin causing issues. I don't think Plesk pays as much attention to maintain backward compatibility to the skins.

I agree, remove it and try again.

rpm -e psa-christmas-skin

or

yum remove psa-christmas-skin

dhodge
08-27-2005, 03:17 PM
I didn't remove it via command line, I went into my Plesk control panel as admin, then clicked on skins, and removed it that way.

Same thing right?

eWebtricity
08-27-2005, 04:10 PM
You check if it was really removed with "rpm -q packagename" to query the rpm database for the package.

[root@server root]# rpm -q psa-christmas-skin
psa-christmas-skin-7.5.1-rh9.build75041222.17

dhodge

Okay I have removed the skin via the rpm -e command. Attempting Plesk upgrade now.

eWebtricity
08-28-2005, 02:30 AM
So removing it from the control panel didn't resolve the issue and didn't remove the Xmas skin package from the system?

Can you reach it via SSH ? Is the auto-installer process still running, you should be able to see it by running "top"

Yes I can reach it via ssh, I will check now. Do you want to use your new Live Chat service, since our communications will be nearly simultanious?

Just tried starting httpd service manually and recieved the standard appache web page for all sites:

Test Page
This page is used to test the proper operation of the Apache Web server after it has been installed. If you can read this page, it means that the Apache Web server installed at this site is working properly.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are the administrator of this website:
You may now add content to this directory, and replace this page. Note that until you do so, people visiting your website will see this page, and not your content.

If you have upgraded from Red Hat Linux 6.2 and earlier, then you are seeing this page because the default DocumentRoot set in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf has changed. Any subdirectories which existed under /home/httpd should now be moved to /var/www. Alternatively, the contents of /var/www can be moved to /home/httpd, and the configuration file can be updated accordingly.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are a member of the general public:
The fact that you are seeing this page indicates that the website you just visited is either experiencing problems, or is undergoing routine maintenance.

If you would like to let the administrators of this website know that you've seen this page instead of the page you expected, you should send them e-mail. In general, mail sent to the name "webmaster" and directed to the website's domain should reach the appropriate person.

For example, if you experienced problems while visiting www.example.com, you should send e-mail to "webmaster@example.com".

I just fired up Plesk manually and it's still on 7.5.2.

It looks like web and smtp services are running but not working. HELP PLEASE!!! Getting desperate, may need to call in 4psa emergency support.

All is not lost, all services appear to be running but websites are just the standard apache sites and email is NOT being received.

dhodge
08-28-2005, 04:02 AM
Okay I've managed to restore web and email services by adding using an older version of the httpd.include file and adding these lines to my psa.conf (found on plesk forum)
MIGRATION_STORAGE_D /usr/local/psa/PMM/archives
DRWEB_ROOT_D /opt/drweb
DRWEB_ETC_D /etc/drweb

then restarting Plesk.

Here is where the update failed:

Still have one more problem though, webmail has been lost completely. Webmail.mydomain.com no longer functions and the entire webmail directory is missing from /home/http/vhosts, I am calling it a night and will attempt to restore the directory from backup tomorrow.

Tomcat !

Checkbox all the updates to be installed or just select updates? Do you select the Tomcat update?

I'll be in and out today but on the Live Chat as much as possible if you need some help.

Okay, 4psa has fixed and upgraded the server completely. Wow, with 1and1 products paired with 4psa.com service, you can really have a smooth running server. They had me fixed up within 2 hours, even on a Sunday!

They didn't explain exactly what was wrong.

Glad it's working again, too bad you didn't find out what's wrong to be able to fix it yourself next time.
