Had a question regarding upgrading MySQL to version 4.
Whats the best way to perform the upgrade? Use Yum, RPM, or some other method?
Any thing I should be aware of? Any known issues with performing the upgrade?
Thanks and sorry for som many questions.

Hi Milo
Suggest you use 'yum' to play with your 1and1 root server. Visit www.atomicrocketturtle.com for invaluable guiding and assistance.
But remember once you go up you can't effectively use the upgraded databases with the earlier version.
Good luck

After much reading on the Plesk forum and on the ART site I was able to get the server upgraded to 4.0. For now that will work and doesn't apper to have broken anything. Next step will be to try 4.1, but I'm in no hurry to do that even.

MySQL 4.1 will break your system. Untill plesk gets arround to working in compatability for MySQL 4.1 we won't be able to use it.
