German 1and1 (1and1.de) questions

I am planning to buy a server from german 1and1, and I just want to know what is their server activation process after the payment is confirmed.

Like, do they call me? or send an activation email to me? or do I have to call them?

Do they charge VAT on the entire fee?

Is there NO WAY to order a server from the german division if I do not live in germany?

In the USA their automated system actually calls you and you type in a code they gave you on the web when ordering. It's a pretty decent system and we've always been contacted within 15 minutes each time.

From what I recall they email you when the call failed and provide a link to request a new one - it was a bit fiddly in my case and probably took a couple of hours to complete. But maybe they were having system problems at the time.

How do order if you live outside Germany? Like how do you give the phone number?

Why not go to the website and attempt to order a server and see what happens or call them direct in the UK? If your not comfortable with any step of the way then cancel it.

1&1 Germany only accepts clients from Germany and Austria. 1&1 UK only accepts clients from the UK. 1&1 France only accepts clients from France. 1&1 US only accepts clients from the States and Canada. Simple as that :-).
