1and1 recently released fedora core 3. But, I cannot see the option in server re-image "Fedora Core 3 with Plesk 7.5".

I see the old version only "Fedora Core 2 with Plesk 7.5". Do I have to wait a little bit longer? or do I have to email support (Ugh!!!) and specifically ask them to provide me with that option?

I had FC3 and Plesk 7.5.4 installed on my UK Root 1 server when I ordered it at Christmas.

Mine is US Root, UK root servers had FC3 available months before US this. But FC3 was introduced to US root recently because when I checked US root 2 weeks ago, it said "Fedora Core 2 Linux" on the actual ORDER page. Now it says "Fedora Core 3 Linux" http://order.1and1.com/xml/order/ServerRoot

We just reimaged a few days ago and only FC2 was available.

Yea, thats what is available now. I shot an email to admin@1and1.com regarding the availability of FC3 with plesk on the control panel for customers with FC2. Waiting for a reply.

If this is a lucky week, I will update the status in a week, which is when I'll recieve the reply, lol.

I have moved all of my hosting up to FC 4 and I am pretty satisfied. Except that postfix is broken and needs to be compiled and installed from a tarball. :???:

I have successfully created an image of a FC4 install and managed to rearrange the partitions the way I like. :D

It boots, but the kernel panics.

The kernel panics because of a known issue regarding SATA drives. The kernel tries to remount the root as hda instead of sda, and it panics.

I am still working on it, and I will post my results when I get it fully done.

Anyone who can lend a hand with the kernel hda/sda issue would be appreicated!

What method are you using to upgrade, tburtt? I'd love to go from FC2 to FC3 but I've heard that Plesk may not like it. Several people have asked about it in the PSA forums but gotten no response.

Am considering a yum upgrade (looks to be the simplest with the fewest questions)

I don't use Plesk.

You may be able to install it on a clean FC 4 system. I don't know.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I am doing an upgrade to a vanilla FC4 environment. No plesk, no special 1and1 patches.

Heh. Oh well. I'd love to go vanilla but we have too much need for Plesk for our clients
