So I've purchased a domain through 1and1 for my server and it's associated with the server IP address.
What do I need to edit within windows so that it uses the domain for the ips reverse dns? At the moment it has *******.pureserver.info as the RDNS.
Thanks.

You can change the reverse DNS in your 1and1 admin control panel under the IP addresses icon. The down side is that you have to purchase/assign a static IP from 1and1 for each domain that you want a reverse lookup for (IP to name). Otherwise you can only assign a single hostname on the reverse lookup of an IP.

You're great thanks. I've updated the RDNS for the IP. I hope it resolves soon. If I purchase an additional IP from 1and1 and then use a subdomain that I created earlier as the RDNS, would it work?
Cheers.

For unique rDNS you will need a dedicated IP for each.

Yes, AFAIK you can also use sub domains as PTR records (RDNS), domains don't have to be registered through 1&1 either. AFAIK the only prerequisite is, that the (sub) domain points to the IP address you want to set up a PTR record for (A record). Otherwhise you could do nasty stuff such as setting up a reverse record referring to microsoft.com or something like that.
So it should even work if you e. g. set up a static sub domain at dydns.org and use that as reverse dns ;-).

Yes we use Enom for all our domains for the forward lookups and set the 1and1 reverse PTR DNS record to whatever domain we want in our 1and1 admin control panel.
