Hi All,

There is a site that has been set up to challenge 1&1 Internet UKs automatic renewal policy and their poor response and implementation of a proper request for cancellation.

Please visit the site at http://www.wasitfree.com if you have any experiences of this and we can work together to seek justice for all users.

All best,
Chris.

This message is in support of the group action being administered by 'ChrisWasItFree'.

My website is covering the publicity side of the campaign and you can read a great deal of the failure of 1&1 [UK] to properly conduct it's affairs.

Navigate to: www.bankraid.com for further information.

Would you be so kind not to talk to yourself trying to tout your various domains which have been registered about 5 weeks ago within a time span of less than a week?

Excellent little site...Glad to see that some people just don't take 1and1's crap. I hate them terribly (as the name implies) and cannot stand to see people spreading the 1and1.com disease around. I have seen some affiliate promos here on this board and it made me puke...

Listen... Before this gets out of hand... Something really needs to be said here!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion about 1and1. God knows I've voiced my opinion about them on SEVERAL occiasions, along with other members on this board. But the intention of this site is NOT to voice his/her opinion about 1and1. Its a place to get help, resolve problems, and a place where someone can try to get some answers that 1and1 fail to provide.

If your only intention is to voice your anger about 1and1, then this definately is not the site to do it on! I'm sure bankraid.com or wasitfree.com would be a much more sustable place for those kinds of comments!

I'm not an admin of this site and eWeb, if I've over-stepped my bounds as a participating member of this forum, I applogize! I would just hate to see a whole bunch of flaming start.

Both sites posted above offer some potentially valuable information to new and existing customers, especially in the UK. I haven't spent the time to research it but I would take it all with a grain of sand until something can be corroborated by third party media sources.

1and1 hater: in response to your gastric response to the adverts, they are simply a potential way to generate revenue for this free site as a service to those who desperately need it. I think the business model is obvious, any potential 1and1 customer may hit the advert and possibly help support this venture.

Simply put we have a business to run and 1and1 allows us to keep our costs low and maximize our profit margin. We have the admin skills necessary not to rely on 1and1 and the price allows us to keep redundant hardware in the event of a catastrophe we can literally recover without contacting 1and1 support for any purpose other than to report the hardware failure that we expect to them to take an extended time to resolve.

C-4: Your opinion is always greatly appreciated here.

C-4 Said:

At the top of the page here it says:
Customer Feedback Express your opinion good or bad of 1and1 products, services, technology, and support.

Which should I believe...?

eWeb: I appreciate your level-headed response to my over the top post about the worst host / registrar on Earth (lol). But I have to say, you are knowingly selling a product that causes strife just to turn a buck.

There are a ton of hosts / registrars out there why don't you peddle some of them to keep your site up? It just doesn't make sense. It is a conflicting message you are giving your constituents here...all for the sake of:

money-money-money-money......moooooonnneeeyyy....(<-- Apprentice theme)

There's 3 things you need to keep in mind, 1&1H...

1. Boards cost money. Period. eWeb is hosting this out of his generosity and I can't blame him for wanting to recoup some of those costs. I seriously doubt eWeb makes much, if anything, off the 3 banner ads he has. I suppose eWeb could put up a Paypal donation link or something like that. Are you willing to put your money where your mouth is?

2. The banners could be worse. MUCH worse.

3. 1and1 is far from the worst host out there. They may not be the best but they're definitely not the worst. I can think of at least one host off the top of my head that is far worse. There are at least a few people who could benefit from moving up to 1and1 hosting (not many, but a few).

I have boards of my own...I know what it costs, but I understand your loyalty...that's nice...

However, from what I gather from this board, it was established to facilitate the use of 1and1.com services without having to deal with their tech support / customer "care," etc...Well, that begs the question, why promote them on the same website that proclaims that 1and1.com has major customer service faults? Just look at the index page poll of when tech support responds...

I just don't get why one would talk out of both sides of ones mouth...If it were my forum I'd either drop the ads for the company that I am TM trampling and eluding to having piss-poor service, or I'd own up to the fact that I was a 1and1.com promoter (I threw up a little "saying" that)...Don't play both sides of the fence...

I respect your opinion and your dislike for 1and1. This board was indeed created to fill a gap in the 1and1 tech support. I hope that they view this board and learn from it what they could do to improve their service and support. I think the fact that I created the "Customer Feedback" forum and that I don't lock this thread speaks for itself. I want people like you to post your opinions, experiences, and grievances and likewise their successes. Based on these forums, threads, and posts people can research and learn from those before them what 1and1 is like from a service, support, and product standpoint (hence this particular feedback forum).

So far you have complained continuously about this board and 1and1 in general. Are you currently a 1and1 customer? Can you share what lead to your 1and1 hatred so that we can better understand where your coming from and so that others can learn from your experiences?

You're classier than C-4, eWeb...but I still disagree with the banner that I am looking at as I type this though...Why not GoDaddy or other hosts? Why 1and1?

I am a 1and1.com customer...I have spent more than $1500 with them. I have a major problem with their billing department and the way they treat their customers.

I have a server package with 1and1 UK and have only needed to contact them three times since my contract started in November last year. While their phone support queue times are drastically long I haven't had much of a problem with their treatment of customers. I haven't had any hardware issues and when I requested a server re-image it was complete within three / four business hours from sending the fax. I think I've been rather fortunate in this regard but I think that is mainly because I'm experienced with running a server and what it entails so my need to contact tech support is a lot lower than other customers.

GoDaddy however.... don't get me started.

I have no particular loyalty to 1and1. I have my own tech support nightmare stories and, yes, it's sad that a forum like this is necessary but it's hardly uncommon (Plesk's own forums are better tech support than Plesk's knowledge database).

I think a better question here is what host would you find acceptable? Moreover, when you do the cost benefit analysis, is someone offering superior value? I have yet to find a host that doesn't, at some point, short change you on tech support somewhere down the line (unless you are coughing up major organs for a monthly fee). I mean Dell computers are cheap because they use Indians (the kind that live in India) for their tech support. 1and1 isn't any different in that regard. You get what you pay for, after all. I pay $69/mo for a Root I server and I get 1000MB of transfer and a 40GB HD. I knew I was getting a lower end server but the price was comparable to what other hosts were charging for similar service. I seriously doubt any of them do differently than 1and1.

If you can find someone who charges around $69-99/mo for at least the same kind of server and has far superior tech support, billing, etc then maybe you'll have a point about whom to recommend. Until then 1and1 is no worse a recommendation than any other host.
