Anyone care to share what they found to be the best advertising? I've been looking into web site banner ads, but I'm worried about which sites are the best to advertise on.. I dont want to waste a bunch of money finding out I'm targeting the wrong places.

Any other advertising suggestions would be good too! :)

Referrals are the best business. Find a market or industry niche and build on it. You might use one customer as a model and expand from there.

So you dont do any kind of formal advertising, other than word of mouth?

So far I've only used word of mouth to advertise. I'm looking into other methods of advertising since word of mouth has done good to help me gain customers initially but for the past 2 months I haven't gained any new customers. Hopefully I can find some method that will work great for me.

I'm thinking maybe banner advertisements will work! Not pop ups but head banners and things to that effect. They can be expensive at times, but from some others I have spoken with, they are worth there money if you get on the right sites

Word of mouth and referral seem to be the best quality customer leads, banner ads are not bad either if you get in front of the right people.

Word of mouth is always the best form of advertising you will ever get.

But then I dont sell hosting, hosting is the by (or should that be buy) product of my design work.

Take a look at the sitepoint forums at www.sitepoint.com/forums , there are some guys in there that really understand how to use various advertising methods.
